TEHRAN -- The Young Voice Actors Forum (YVAF), an Iranian private dubbing institute, has been preparing films for the home video market.

“Gnomeo & Juliet” (2011), “Tangled” (2010), “Yogi Bear” (2010) and “Astro Boy” (2009) also may be broadcast on Iranian TV, YVAF director Mehrdad Reissi told the Persian service of ISNA on Sunday.
The scripts of the animations have been altered because of ‘the red lines and filters” being enforced by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, he said.
“However, the alterations have been made in a manner that will be interesting to the viewers and are in the line with the Iranian culture,” Reissi added.
“Through modifications to the scripts we can somewhat remove cultural poison of the works and prevent the cultural invasion,” he noted.
The YVAF has voiced many of Hollywood’s acclaimed animated productions.
The institute gives an Iranian ambiance to these foreign animations, providing entertainment for television and home video.
They even have used local Iranian dialects for the animations’ characters to provide additional appeal to audiences.
However, this method was abandoned in 2005 after the Iranian Azari people were outraged by an article published in the Persian daily Iran, which allegedly ridiculed the Azari dialect.
